In this episode, we have Rita taking the stage for a unique perspective on her one-time experience as a High-Flyer. Rita, originally from Taiwan and currently a second-year student in the Economic and Operational Research program at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, shares her insights into the world of Minite.
Hi! Can you tell us about yourself? Who are you, what are you studying, and where?
My name is Rita. I'm currently a student at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. I'm originally from Taiwan. I'm in my second year of the bachelor's program in Economic and Operational Research.
How did you find out about Minite?
I think I first heard about them in my first year. I'm not entirely sure if it was during Eureka Week or at some other introduction event. I remember hearing that it's an opportunity to have a part-time job while studying. So that's how I got acquainted. This time, I came across job opportunities through an Instagram story.
What job have you done with Minite?
I helped with the Erasmus Entreprise Ceremony event. I was responsible for documents for guest check-in at the open ceremony, and ensuring a smooth operation. I guided and coordinated guests and ensured that everything to make the ceremony run as smoothly as possible.
What did you like most about your job?
I would say the most interesting aspect was the opportunity to gain insights from the distinguished guests who were part of the event. Furthermore, this event didn't require a subscription, which was an added benefit for me. I gained valuable insights through the ceremony, and we even had some snacks, which was a nice touch. Overall, I was very satisfied. Before this experience, I didn't know much about Erasmus Enterprise, but now I have a better understanding, and I'm genuinely interested in it. It was a great opportunity to learn more about both company operations and organizational aspects.
Whatβs the best part of being a High-Flyer?
I think the best part is the flexibility it offers. Unlike a fixed 9-to-5 office schedule, as a High-Flyer, you can adjust your timetable according to your availability and productivity. This flexibility is particularly appealing to me. As far as I know from the job descriptions, some of them don't require going to the office, allowing you to work online. This is especially beneficial for students, particularly if the company isn't located in Rotterdam. It provides a great opportunity to practice your skills.
Why would you recommend Minite to your friends?
I would recommend Minite for several reasons. First, it's a promising platform that guarantees access to valuable resources. Moreover, it's more student-oriented. Unlike many other platforms that require a certain degree, Minite offers opportunities suitable for undergraduate students.
Secondly, the pay is generally higher than typical entry-level jobs, making it an attractive option for those looking to explore hospitality work. I would highly recommend trying out Minite for this reason.
Lastly, the experience gained through Minite is an excellent addition to your CV. It provides valuable practical experience that can enhance your resume.
