High-Flyer of the Month: meet Kirsten

High-Flyer of the Month: meet Kirsten

We are excited to introduce you to Kirsten, our High-Flyer of the month of May. She's currently studying for a European Master in Health Economics and Management at Erasmus University. Last semester she had the opportunity to live in beautiful Bologna, Italy and now she's residing in the stunning city of Oslo, Norway. You won't want to miss out on getting to know her! Check out her story.

How did you hear about Minite?Β

I was discussing with some friends about the challenges of our Master program, which involves moving from place to place. While we enjoy traveling, we also need to find ways to fund our trips. However, it can be challenging to find a job in each new location. So, we were discussing how we could make it work and one of my friends mentioned Minite. Although they haven't tried it yet, they heard about it from their friends and recommended it to me. I decided to check it out and created an account. This is how I got to know you guys. It's amazing to work remotely and have a job that I can do from anywhere I go.

‍What kind of work have you done through Minite?

Currently, I am employed as an executive assistant to the CEO of Momo Medical, a healthcare startup that creates groundbreaking medical solutions. Thankfully, I secured this job on my first proposal. My responsibilities include managing the CEO's busy mailbox and calendar, collaborating closely with the management team, handling administrative duties such as document signing and storage, streamlining procedures like contracts, and overseeing various tasks. Additionally, I assist in human resources procedures, such as onboarding and administrative duties. Although it is challenging, especially with the constant influx of emails, I find it enjoyable to prioritize tasks and monitor unfinished work.

With time and experience, my job has become more comfortable since we communicate better and have a deeper understanding of each other.

What do you love most about being a High-Flyer?

One of the things I love most about being a High-Flyer is the job's flexibility, which allows me to take it with me wherever I go. This is especially important as I am currently completing a two-year master's program, and during my final semester, which involves writing my thesis, I may need to relocate. With this job, I don't have to worry about finding new employment in a new location. Additionally, I appreciate the flexible working hours. The CEO's schedule is typically busy during regular office hours, so we often hold work sessions on weekends, evenings, or early mornings before office hours. This enables me to balance my job with my studies effectively. During the day, I concentrate on my studies and utilize the university library, and then work on my job in the evenings. On weekends, I can start early and get a lot accomplished before enjoying my free time. Although it can get busy, the scheduling is manageable, particularly since my current university in Oslo has only two exam periods, allowing me ample free time to prepare.

What are the benefits of working as a High-Flyer and why would you recommend it to your friends?

From my experience, working as a High-Flyer offers a lot of opportunities to learn and grow. The company I work for is very open-minded, which I believe is the case for most companies that use Minite. This job is more satisfying than other entry-level jobs, as it provides a chance to help the CEO and the company while also gaining valuable skills and insight into how a company operates. It's great preparation for future career advancement.

Compared to other jobs, such as working in a bar or a restaurant, High-Flyer provides a more enriching experience. Although those jobs can be fun and social, they don't offer as much learning and growth potential. I have personally tried working in a hotel but found it repetitive and lacking in challenge. As a High-Flyer, the flexibility of the job allows me to balance my work with my studies, and I can take it with me wherever I go. Overall, I highly recommend working as a High-Flyer to anyone who wants to gain valuable experience while enjoying flexibility and growth opportunities.
